SRINAGAR, September 4 — Security forces have killed one militant and recovered an AK rifle along with other warlike stores during an ongoing joint operation in the Ashdar Gali area of Budgam district. The operation was launched following specific intelligence inputs regarding the presence of militants in the region.
According to details received by The Chenab Times, the Army’s Chinar Corps confirmed the development on X, formerly Twitter. A joint search operation, codenamed Operation ASHDAR, was initiated in the general area of Ashdar Gali involving personnel from the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).
During the operation, troops observed suspicious movement and challenged the suspected militants. The militants responded by opening fire, prompting a retaliatory response from the security forces. This exchange of gunfire led to the neutralization of one militant.
The Chinar Corps stated, “During the exchange of gunfire, one terrorist was neutralised and one AK rifle along with other war-like stores were recovered.” The identity of the slain militant and further details about the recovered items are yet to be ascertained.
The security forces have intensified their operations in the area following the encounter. The search operation remains underway in the Ashdar Gali region to ensure the complete elimination of any further militant presence. The incident underscores the continued efforts by security forces to maintain peace and stability in the Kashmir Valley.
