A significant land parcel sale in Srinagar has generated ₹421.75 crore for the Jammu and Kashmir government, paving the way for a transformative development project at the Sangarmal City Centre. The project, a joint endeavor by Parmesh Construction Company Ltd, Pahalgam Green Hotels, and Bhutani Infra Ltd, is expected to cost approximately ₹600 crore and aims to create a new commercial and leisure hub in the heart of the city.
Information was available with The Chenab Times indicating that the auction for the 45-kanal land tract attracted substantial bids, highlighting investor confidence in Srinagar’s economic potential. Mushtaq Chaya, Chairman and Managing Director of the Mumtaz Group of Hotels, expressed optimism about the project’s impact, stating in an exclusive interview that it is slated for completion within three years.
The development envisions comprehensive shopping and leisure facilities, designed to revitalize the Sangarmal City Centre and establish it as a prominent business district. Officials project that the initiative will not only enhance the urban infrastructure but also generate considerable employment opportunities for the local population.
The proposed transformation of Sangarmal City Centre represents a strategic move to boost commercial activity and enhance tourism infrastructure in Srinagar. The scale of investment underscores the region’s potential for economic growth and development. The project details outline a modern commercial complex intended to meet the evolving needs of consumers and businesses, attracting both local patronage and external investment.
The successful auction of the land parcel is a testament to the government’s efforts to attract private investment in key infrastructure projects across Jammu and Kashmir. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to stimulate economic development and create a conducive environment for business expansion.
The project is expected to incorporate contemporary architectural designs and sustainable development practices, aiming to create a landmark destination within Srinagar. Stakeholders anticipate that the completed complex will become a focal point for retail, entertainment, and business activities, thereby contributing to the overall economic vibrancy of the Union Territory.
The development is also seen as a catalyst for ancillary economic activities, potentially benefiting local artisans, service providers, and the hospitality sector. By creating a modern commercial space, the project aims to enhance the retail experience and cater to a growing demand for quality amenities.
The government has expressed its commitment to facilitating the timely execution of the Sangarmal project, ensuring that all regulatory and logistical hurdles are addressed efficiently. The success of this auction and subsequent development is expected to encourage further private sector participation in Jammu and Kashmir’s growth story.
