JAMMU, September 11 — Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat on Friday presided over a critical security review meeting in Jammu, focusing on the enhancement of the border protection grid along the International Border and the Line of Control in the Jammu region. The meeting aimed to bolster security arrangements and ensure seamless coordination among various security forces tasked with preventing cross-border infiltration.
Information was available with The Chenab Times that the comprehensive review included an assessment of existing security mechanisms and strategies to counter any potential movements across the border. The discussion emphasized the integrated approach of the Border Protection Grid, which comprises key security agencies including the Army, Border Security Force (BSF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and the Jammu and Kashmir Police.
A significant component of the border security infrastructure discussed was the anti-infiltration obstacle system, a vital element deployed along both the International Border and the Line of Control. Officials highlighted the importance of this system in deterring and detecting attempts at illegal cross-border entry.
According to a statement released by the Jammu and Kashmir Police Media Centre on X, formerly Twitter, the Director General of Police specifically reviewed the operational effectiveness of the Border Protection Grid with the concerned formations of the BSF, CRPF, and J&K Police. The meeting was attended by senior officials from various security agencies, underscoring the high priority placed on safeguarding the region’s borders.
Among the key attendees were the Inspector General of Police (Jammu Zone), senior officers representing the BSF and CRPF, Deputy Inspectors General (DIGs) of police ranges, and Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) from the border districts. Their presence and active participation indicated a collaborative effort to address the security challenges prevalent in the border areas.
The deliberations at the meeting were geared towards reinforcing the multi-layered security apparatus in place. This includes enhancing surveillance, improving communication channels, and ensuring rapid response capabilities to any security breach. The DGP stressed the need for continuous vigilance and proactive measures to maintain peace and security in the sensitive border areas of Jammu.
The security forces involved in the border protection grid are continuously working to thwart any attempts of infiltration, smuggling, or other nefarious activities originating from across the border.
