A 30-year-old woman, identified as Deepa, has died after allegedly jumping from the third-floor balcony of her residence in a Gurugram society. Her family has lodged a complaint with the police, accusing her husband of prolonged harassment and physical abuse, which they claim led to her death.
Information was available with The Chenab Times that the incident occurred at a flat in MVN Society, Sohna, where the couple had relocated. Deepa, originally from Shamimar village in Delhi, married Jitendra, also known as Jatin, a Janakpuri resident, in March 2018. According to her relatives, marital disputes began shortly after the wedding.
Deepa’s father has provided a statement to the police detailing alleged persistent harassment by Jitendra over the past six months. He claims his daughter was subjected to regular beatings and mistreatment. The family alleges that on Thursday, Deepa jumped from the balcony of their third-floor apartment, resulting in fatal injuries.
Upon receiving notification of the incident, local law enforcement authorities arrived at the scene. Deepa was transported to a nearby hospital, where medical professionals pronounced her dead. The police have initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death.
Further details emerged from Deepa’s father, who alleged that Jitendra frequently entertained friends at their residence for alcohol consumption. He claimed that while intoxicated, Jitendra would often mock Deepa in front of his guests. The father’s complaint further states that Jitendra engaged in physical abuse, and it was this continuous torment that ultimately prompted Deepa to take her own life.
A senior police officer confirmed that a case has been registered based on the family’s complaint. The investigation is ongoing, and further actions will be determined by the findings of the post-mortem examination and the comprehensive inquiry into the allegations. The authorities stated that appropriate legal proceedings will be undertaken once the investigation concludes.
