Amritsar police have apprehended a second suspect in connection with a kidnapping and assault case that occurred on October 9. The accused, identified as Sajan, also known as Cheeni, a resident of Majitha Road, was taken into custody on Thursday. His arrest follows the earlier apprehension of another individual, Mantosh, who was taken into custody on October 10.
Information was available with The Chenab Times that during Mantosh’s interrogation, the police reportedly recovered a kirch, a sharp-edged weapon, which is alleged to have been used in the commission of the crime. The case was initiated following a complaint lodged by Munni Devi, a resident of Gupta Colony on Majitha Road. Devi reported that her son, Parshuram, also known as Bittu, was attacked with weapons by unidentified individuals in Ram Nagar Colony, sustaining serious injuries.
The complaint further alleged that Parshuram was subsequently kidnapped from the residence of a former sarpanch, Kamal Kumar. In response to the complaint, the Sadar police registered a case on October 9 and commenced a comprehensive investigation into the matter. As the probe progressed, the facts that emerged led to the nomination of Sajan and other individuals as accused in the FIR, with kidnapping charges being added to the initial complaint.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Gagandeep Singh confirmed the arrest of Sajan. He stated that further investigations are actively underway to determine the precise involvement and roles of the other accused individuals in the incident. The police are continuing their efforts to gather evidence and ensure that all parties involved are brought to justice.
