A man identified as Anil Pandit, believed to be operating from California and allegedly linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, is now wanted in over a dozen extortion cases, according to recent reports. This development follows his alleged claim of responsibility for a firing incident involving Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff in Mumbai.
Gang Involvement and Extortion Allegations
Anil Pandit, who reportedly had no significant criminal record before leaving India in 2023, has become a central figure in investigations linking him to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang’s criminal activities. Authorities suspect Pandit is coordinating extortion demands and orchestrating attacks on celebrities and businessmen from abroad. He is alleged to have been involved in coordinating criminal activities since his departure from India, using threats and shootings to intimidate individuals and demand protection money in the name of the Bishnoi gang.
Police reports indicate that Pandit is wanted in more than 12 extortion cases registered in Haryana. His alleged operational base in California has raised concerns about how criminal syndicates leverage international contacts to issue threats and claim responsibility for violent acts within India. Pandit is reportedly associated with other alleged syndicate members, including Harman Sandhu, Harry Boxer, Shubham Lonkar, and Randeep Malik.
Tiger Shroff Firing Incident
The alleged involvement of Anil Pandit came to light following a firing incident targeting actor Tiger Shroff’s car in Mumbai’s Juhu area on a Sunday evening. Three assailants on a motorcycle reportedly fired at Shroff’s vehicle as he was leaving a gathering. While Tiger Shroff escaped unhurt, his driver sustained a gunshot injury to his hand, and another individual near the car was also reportedly injured. Following the incident, a social media post and a voice note attributed to Pandit claimed responsibility for the attack, suggesting that Shroff had ignored previous warnings, particularly regarding his association with Salman Khan, who has also been a target of threats from the Bishnoi gang.
Broader Criminal Network and Investigations
Investigators have linked Anil Pandit to multiple alleged criminal incidents beyond the Tiger Shroff case. His name has surfaced in connection with at least three shooting incidents, including one at a gym frequented by singer Guru Randhawa in Delhi and another involving singer Diler Kharkiya. These incidents are also suspected to be coordinated by Pandit from abroad.
The accused apprehended in the Tiger Shroff firing case were reportedly traveling by train with plans to flee to Nepal. Authorities in Kota, Rajasthan, detained three primary suspects before they could escape. Preliminary questioning of these individuals revealed that Anil Pandit had been in contact with one of the accused. The weapons used in the firing have not yet been recovered, and investigations are ongoing to determine their whereabouts and further complicity.
Anil Pandit, originally from Haryana’s Panipat district, reportedly left India for Canada in 2023 before relocating to the United States, where he allegedly connected with gangster Randeep Malik, an associate of Lawrence Bishnoi. This alleged association is believed to have facilitated his coordination of criminal activities through a network of shooters based in India over the past six months. The investigation into Pandit’s activities involves multiple police units, including those in Haryana, Delhi, and Pune, as authorities work to dismantle the broader criminal network he is accused of operating within.
