Kishtwar, Jan 23 – Three government officers from Kishtwar were airlifted to the Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu on Thursday after experiencing medical emergencies, officials said.
Assistant Director Fisheries Kishtwar Kulbhushan Verma and Naib Tehsildar Machail Paddar Dharminder Singh Sambyal suffered heart attacks, while Chief Medical Officer Kishtwar Dr. Rajinder Singh became unconscious due to pre-existing health conditions.
Dr. Yudhveer Singh, Medical Superintendent DH Kishtwar, told The Chenab Times that the incidents occurred at different times and locations. “Kulbhushan Verma suffered a heart attack reportedly after running, and Dharminder Singh’s condition was triggered reportedly by severe cold. Dr. Rajinder Singh, who was already unwell, collapsed while on duty,” Dr. Singh said.
All three officials were stabilized locally before being collectively airlifted to GMC Jammu for advanced treatment. “Their condition is said to be stable,” the Medical Superintendent confirmed.
The incidents unfolded amid heightened concern in the Jammu and Kashmir region, particularly in Rajouri’s Baddal village, where 17 unexplained deaths since December have prompted intensified surveillance and health measures. Authorities suspect a baoli (water reservoir) containing traces of pesticides may be linked to the fatalities, with recent cases involving minors hospitalized for fever and vomiting.
The coinciding health emergencies involving the Kishtwar officers have drawn attention on social media, with speculation about their cause. However, authorities clarified that the incidents were unrelated and occurred independently.
The region remains on alert as health authorities continue to investigate both the Rajouri deaths and the broader implications for public health and safety.
