Operation Shield Conducted in Doda to Test Emergency Preparedness

Doda, May 31 – In a significant demonstration of crisis preparedness, a comprehensive mock drill codenamed Operation Shield was successfully conducted today in District Doda. The exercise, simulating a large-scale emergency response to potential wartime or terrorist threats, brought together a wide array of agencies in a coordinated effort to assess and strengthen their inter-agency response mechanisms.

The meticulously planned simulation involved the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), village home guards, National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets, Aapda Mitr volunteers, civil defence volunteers, ex-servicemen, Fire and Emergency Services, District Police Doda, and the Traffic Police. Notably, the 4 Rashtriya Rifles (4RR) also took part, with one of their camps serving as the designated Point of Incident (POI) for the drill.

Held under a scenario designed to emulate the intensity and unpredictability of real-time emergencies, the exercise tested the agility, readiness, and operational synchronisation of all participating units. The drill saw the seamless integration of civil and defence apparatuses, with teams executing search and rescue, medical aid, evacuation, and crowd control protocols under simulated high-pressure conditions.

Officials overseeing the operation noted that the synergy exhibited by the agencies was commendable, with each unit displaying professionalism and discipline. The involvement of youth volunteers and ex-servicemen alongside official forces further underscored the community’s role in managing emergencies.

Observers from local administration highlighted the importance of such drills in building a culture of preparedness, especially in regions prone to security threats or natural calamities. “Exercises like Operation Shield not only validate our response frameworks but also help identify areas for improvement in a real-world setting,” said a senior official involved in the drill.

As the curtains fell on today’s operation, the success of the drill was hailed as a reaffirmation of the district’s readiness to face crises with resilience and coordination.
