J&K Public Service Commission advances selection process for 90 gazetted posts as top-ranked candidates clear all stages of the prestigious state civil services examination.
The Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission has declared the final result of the J&K Combined Competitive Examination 2024, shortlisting 90 candidates for Medical Examination in order of aggregate merit.
According to details received by The Chenab Times, the commission issued Notification No. 16-PSC (DR-S) of 2026 dated March 13, 2026, formally notifying the outcome of the Personality Test held from March 5 to March 13, 2026, at the commission’s Jammu office.
The selection process, which originated from a General Administration Department referral of 90 posts in July 2024, drew widespread participation across Jammu and Kashmir. A total of 31,644 candidates were provisionally allowed to appear in the Preliminary Examination, which was conducted on February 23, 2025. Of these, 19,659 candidates appeared on the day of the examination.
Following the preliminary stage, 2,768 candidates were declared qualified for the Mains Examination, which was conducted from July 23 to August 1, 2025, at centres in both Jammu and Srinagar. A total of 2,492 candidates appeared across all papers of the Mains Examination.
Based on criteria fixed under SRO-103 of 2018, the commission declared 345 candidates qualified for the Interview and Viva-Voce stage. Three candidatures were subsequently rejected, and three replacement candidates from the respective categories were called in their place. Six additional petitioners were also called for interview pursuant to orders of the Hon’ble Central Administrative Tribunal.
Of the 345 candidates called for interview, four did not appear. The commission, in its meeting held on March 13, 2026, declared the result of 340 candidates who appeared in the Personality Test. The result of one candidate has been withheld, while the results of six petitioners called under the Central Administrative Tribunal’s directions have also been withheld pending further proceedings.
The 90 candidates recommended for Medical Examination have been directed to report before the respective Medical Boards at Government Medical College, Srinagar or Jammu, whichever the candidate chooses. The shortlisted candidates will be required to pay a prescribed fee before their medical check-up. The commission has clarified that being called for Medical Examination does not confer any right on a candidate to be recommended for final selection.
Absyu Sharma topped the merit list with 1,062 marks, followed by Simranjeet Kaur with 1,057.50 marks and Harshit Sharma with 1,034 marks. The commission has stated that mark cards will be made available on its official website after the select list is forwarded to the government for making appointments. The notified lists are provisional and subject to the outcome of any writ petitions pending before competent courts.
