SRINAGAR: In a significant administrative move, the Jammu and Kashmir government has approved the promotion of 24 Inspectors from the General Cadre to the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP). The appointed officers will now hold positions in Level 8 of the Pay Matrix, with a salary scale ranging from Rs 47,600 to Rs 1,51,100, effective immediately.
Information was available with The Chenab Times that the formal order for these promotions was issued by the Home Department of the Jammu and Kashmir government under Government Order No. 222-Home of 2026, dated April 13, 2026. The decision follows a comprehensive review process, including recommendations from the Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission, essential input from the Criminal Investigation Department, and necessary vigilance clearance obtained from the Police Headquarters.
The list of newly promoted Deputy Superintendents of Police comprises officers who have served as Inspectors. Those elevated to the rank include Riyaz Mustafa, Mir Zahid Hussain, Arif Ahmad Ahangar, Ashwani Kumar Angotra, Nasir Syed Kirmani, Tahir Ahmed Qazi, Iftikhar Ahmed Mir, Ramesh Kumar Pandita, Raj Kumar Dhar, Sunil Kumar Ganjoo, Javid Akhtar, Ajay Bhat, Arun Kotwal, Vijay Kotwal, Mohd Arif, Shabir Ahmad, Kulbir Singh, Manzoor Hussain, Chaman Lal, Sanjeev Kumar, Sunil Kumar, Jagjiven Ram, Naveen Angral and Som Raj. These individuals have been recognized for their service and potential within the police force.
The order further stipulates that these promotions are contingent upon the final outcome of any writ petitions that may be pending before any competent courts of law.
