Jammu and Kashmir Government Orders Transfer of 3 Executive Engineers in Jal Shakti Department

JAMMU, May 19: The Jammu and Kashmir administration has ordered the transfer and posting of three Executive Engineers within the Jal Shakti Department, in a move aimed at streamlining departmental operations and ensuring administrative efficiency. The order was issued with immediate effect, impacting key engineering positions across various divisions.

The Chenab Times has learned that Zahoor Ahmad Shah, who was serving as Executive Engineer in the Irrigation and Flood Control Division Doda, has been transferred and posted as Executive Engineer in the Hydraulic Division Ramban. This reshuffling addresses a vacant position within the Ramban division, necessitating the movement of experienced personnel.

In addition to the full transfers, Sanjeev Thappa, Executive Engineer of the Irrigation and Flood Control Division Bhaderwah, has been assigned the additional responsibility of overseeing the Irrigation and Flood Control Division Doda. This arrangement ensures continuity of operations in Doda while the department identifies a permanent replacement.

Similarly, Shuja Showkat Hussain, an Executive Engineer with the Irrigation and Flood Control Division Srinagar, has been given the additional charge of Executive Engineer, Mechanical Irrigation Construction Division Srinagar. This measure aims to manage the workload and ensure the smooth functioning of both divisions under his purview.

The transfers are part of routine administrative exercises undertaken by government departments to ensure that personnel are deployed to positions where their expertise can be best utilized. Such postings are typically based on administrative requirements, departmental exigencies, and the overall interest of public service delivery. The Jal Shakti Department plays a crucial role in managing water resources, irrigation infrastructure, and flood control measures across the Union Territory, making the efficient functioning of its engineering cadre vital for regional development and public safety.

The department oversees a wide array of projects, including the maintenance and upgrade of irrigation canals, the construction and management of water supply schemes, and the implementation of flood protection measures. The movement of engineers like Mr. Shah, Mr. Thappa, and Mr. Hussain is expected to bolster the departmental capacity in their respective areas of operation, contributing to the effective management of water-related infrastructure.

These administrative decisions reflect the ongoing efforts by the Jammu and Kashmir government to ensure that public service departments are adequately staffed and that their personnel are placed in roles that best serve the administrative needs. The objective behind such transfers and additional charge assignments is to maintain operational momentum and uphold the quality of services provided by the Jal Shakti Department to the citizens of the Union Territory. The department continues to be a cornerstone in the development and maintenance of essential infrastructure related to water management and irrigation.
