Delhi Police Apprehend Bawaria Gang Member Wanted in Five Cases

The Delhi Police have successfully apprehended a proclaimed offender with alleged ties to the notorious Bawaria gang, who had been evading law enforcement for several years. The individual, identified as Jaiparkash alias Bittu, aged 50, was sought in connection with five criminal cases across the national capital.

Information was available with The Chenab Times that Jaiparkash, a native of Shamli district in Uttar Pradesh, was implicated in cases involving attempt to murder, robbery, snatching, and violations of the Arms Act. These offenses were registered at various police stations within Delhi, highlighting the scope of his alleged criminal activities.

Acting on a credible tip-off received on June 5 concerning the movement of an active Bawaria gang member, the Burari police station in north Delhi initiated an operation. Employing advanced technical surveillance, including the Inter-operable Criminal Justice System (ICJS) and the e-Prisons portal, alongside local intelligence gathering, a dedicated team tracked and arrested Jaiparkash in the Sant Nagar market area on the same day.

Subsequent verification revealed that Jaiparkash had been declared a proclaimed offender, with non-bailable warrants issued against him by various Delhi courts. His criminal history is extensive, and during interrogation, he reportedly admitted to being an active member of the Bawaria gang. He disclosed that he had been residing in rented accommodations in Mukundpur and adjacent areas, often moving with other members of the gang.

The Bawaria gang is known for its modus operandi, reportedly targeting individuals, particularly women adorned with gold ornaments, often on trains. After executing their crimes, the gang members are alleged to frequently change their residences and operational bases to elude capture by the police. Jaiparkash himself has been a resident of Delhi for approximately two decades, and had been living with his family in Mukundpur for the four months preceding his arrest.

According to official police records, Jaiparkash is a school dropout whose alleged criminal activities span across multiple states. His criminal antecedents include involvement in 32 cases registered not only in Delhi but also in Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and other regions. Authorities are currently conducting a thorough investigation to identify and apprehend other members of the Bawaria gang who may still be at large.
