The Delhi government’s e-Office system has marked its first anniversary with a significant achievement, having processed over 1.4 lakh electronic files and more than 9.2 lakh e-receipts. This milestone signifies a substantial transition from traditional paper-based administration to digital governance within the national capital.
Information was available with The Chenab Times indicating that Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced the successful completion of one year for the e-Office system, highlighting its role in accelerating file disposal, enhancing transparency and accountability, and enabling faster delivery of government services. The system replaces conventional paper files with an online process for correspondence and approvals.
Expansion and Adoption of e-Office
Official figures reveal a considerable expansion in the e-Office platform’s reach. Starting with 5,005 officers and employees across 198 departments and offices on March 8, 2025, the system now boasts 15,748 active users spanning 235 departments and offices as of June 27, 2026. This growth underscores the increasing reliance on digital workflows within the Delhi government.
The e-Office system empowers authorities to meticulously track the movement of files, identify the officer responsible for each stage, and monitor the actions taken. This capability is instrumental in reducing administrative delays and strengthening record management, while also fostering improved inter-departmental coordination.
To cater to diverse administrative requirements, the Delhi government has developed distinct e-Office platforms tailored for government departments, public sector undertakings (PSUs), and autonomous bodies, as well as educational institutions. This customized approach ensures that the digital governance solution effectively addresses the unique operational needs of each sector.
Mandatory Implementation and Processing Milestones
The utilization of the e-Office system was made mandatory across all Delhi government departments from July 1, 2025. Currently, all 132 departments are integrated into the platform, with 11,940 active users actively engaged in digital processing. Between July 1, 2025, and April 12, 2026, government departments successfully processed 1,14,603 e-files and 7,14,091 e-receipts.
Following the rollout of an upgraded e-Office system, an additional 23,767 e-files and approximately 1.53 lakh e-receipts were processed between April 13 and June 27 of the current year. This indicates a continuous increase in the volume of digital transactions.
Extension to PSUs and Educational Institutions
The e-Office platform’s reach has also extended to 55 PSUs, boards, corporations, commissions, committees, autonomous bodies, and local bodies. Within these entities, 3,090 active users processed 4,672 e-files and 55,132 e-receipts between April 15 and June 27. In the education sector, 718 users across 48 universities, colleges, and other institutions handled 1,267 e-files and 3,051 e-receipts during the same period, reflecting the system’s widespread adoption.
High Adoption Rates and Future Objectives
The growing acceptance of the e-Office system is evident in its high adoption rates. Approximately 91 percent of the 132 departments, totaling 120 departments, are now regularly utilizing the e-Office platform. Similarly, 36 out of 55 PSUs and autonomous bodies, and 21 of the 48 educational institutions have adopted the digital system. Cumulatively, about 75 percent of the 235 departments and offices, which is 177 entities, are consistently conducting official work through e-Office.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta reiterated the government’s objective to foster a governance system that is not only faster and more transparent but also highly accountable, ensuring that citizens experience minimal delays in accessing government services. She added that the digital platform’s expansion would continue as part of efforts to strengthen good governance practices in the capital.
