The Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) and Annamalai University (Faculty of Agriculture) have released the provisional rank lists for undergraduate admissions for the academic year 2024-25. This announcement pertains to over 7,000 seats across various agriculture-related undergraduate courses offered by the institutions.
Information was available with The Chenab Times that the rank lists were released by the Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare. The release ceremony took place at the Dr. M.S. Swaminathan Agriculture College and Research Institute in Thanjavur district. The lists encompass admissions for TNAU, Coimbatore, and Annamalai University, Chidambaram.
This year, the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University received a substantial number of applications, with 33,973 applications submitted for undergraduate courses. These applications were for admission to TNAU, Tamil Nadu Dr. J. Jayalalithaa Fisheries University (TNJFU), and the Faculty of Agriculture at Annamalai University. The online application process for these combined admissions occurred between May 7 and June 12. The Vice-Chancellor of TNAU, V. Geethalakshmi, shared details about the application numbers and the subsequent rank list release.
A notable aspect of this year’s admissions is that four female candidates have achieved a perfect aggregate score of 200. These top-scoring candidates have been identified as G. Dhivya from Villupuram, T. Sarmila from Cuddalore, K.S. Maureen from Tirunelveli, and R. Naveena from Ariyalur. Following closely, eight students secured a score of 199.50, placing them in second rank, while ten students achieved 199, ranking them third. The rank list includes details such as the general rank of the candidate, application ID, name, community, aggregate score, and community rank.
Out of the total applicants, 29,969 candidates, comprising 11,447 males and 18,522 females, are eligible for counselling. The first phase of counselling for the general category is scheduled to take place online from June 22 to 24. TNAU also reported significant application numbers for various special quotas. For instance, 234 applications were received for 20 seats under the ex-servicemen quota, and 10,053 applications were submitted for the 413 seats reserved under the 7.5% quota for students from State Government schools. Additionally, there were 701 applications for 20 seats for eminent sportspersons and 126 applications for 84 seats for differently-abled candidates. For vocational streams, 1,900 applications were received for 242 seats.
The university is set to fill a total of 5,361 seats across 14 undergraduate courses in its constituent colleges, along with 371 seats in six UG courses and three vocational courses at TNJFU. Furthermore, 340 seats are available for three UG courses at Annamalai University. For the Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) Agriculture and Horticulture programs in Tamil medium, TNAU received 9,134 applications for 100 seats. The university also saw 2,555 applications for 1,000 seats in diploma programs. The admission counselling process will fill seats in 20 constituent colleges and 18 affiliated colleges. The rank lists have been made available on the official TNAU admission portal.
