SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir administration has assigned an additional responsibility to IAS officer Avny Lavasa, granting her the charge of the Tribal Affairs Department.
The Chenab Times has learned that a government order, issued by the General Administration Department on Sunday, details the new assignment. Avny Lavasa, an Indian Administrative Service officer of the 2013 batch (AGMUT cadre), currently serves as the Secretary to the Government in the Transport Department. She also holds the additional charge of Administrative Secretary for the Hospitality and Protocol Department.
In addition to her existing portfolios, Ms. Lavasa will now oversee the Tribal Affairs Department. This decision has been made in the interest of administrative expediency, according to the official order.
The order further states that Ms. Lavasa will hold the additional charge of the Tribal Affairs Department until further orders are issued. The move aims to streamline administrative functions and ensure continuous oversight of the department’s operations. The Tribal Affairs Department plays a crucial role in the development and welfare of tribal communities across Jammu and Kashmir, focusing on education, economic empowerment, and preservation of cultural heritage.
