In response to charges made by some individuals about the functioning of the Kashmir Crown Trust, particularly the specific fund-raising instance of ‘Gutlibagh Daughter of Ganderbal,’ the Trust categorically denies the allegations.
Kashmir Crown Trust was established in the year 2019 with the goal of assisting the needy and downtrodden segments of the society.
Since its inception, the trust has supported 1035 families with the help of public donation. The trust has also purchased 1-kanal land for old age/ orphanage home.
All financial activities/transactions of the Trust have been done only via payees’ cheques. A total of 1,90,45,705 (INR) have been disbursed against the above mentioned beneficiaries/activities out of total funds raised 1,99,05,157 (INR) till 31, March, 2021. (Financial year) . The balance remaining on account as on 31, March, 2021 is 8,59,451 (INR) (Annexure attached for public information).
Meanwhile the ‘fundraising campaign’ for ‘Gutlibagh Daughters of Ganderbal’ was launched dated: 12, December, 2020, a total amount of 50 Lakh (INR) was deposited in the account of these daughters on the direction of the then deputy commissioner Ganderbal, order no. DM/GBR/PS/2020/3090-99, Dated: 17, December, 2020.
However an amount of rupees 2 lakh 20 thousand was deposited as an immediate help to the daughters by the Trust prior to the launching of fundraising campaign, dated: 07, 12, 2020. Hence a total amount of 52 lakh 20 thousand (INR) have been deposited in the account of these daughters via account number SB/0174040800011560, namely Rehana, D/O: Bashir Ahmad Khan, J&K Bank Branch Nunar Ganderbal.
In addition to the above amount deposited by Kashmir crown Trust; these daughters received nearly 30 lakh rupees directly in their account.
While an inquiry committee constituted by Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal in its report mentioned that an amount of 75 lakh was credited in the account of Kashmir Crown Trust during this period. However, the trust had 02 more fund raising active campaigns besides Gutlibagh Daughters ‘fundraising campaign’ simultaneously.
While the construction of house for these daughters remained incomplete due to non compliance of the inquiry committee submission report. The inquiry committee submission report reads: “It has been decided that the activity (constriction of house) shall henceforth be undertaken by the committee constituted by the Tehsildar Ganderbal for the said purpose and the Kashmir Crown Trust and its committee shall handover the task of construction of house to the said committee and Trust will provide the details of expenditure incurred on the said construction to the new committee and also hand over the donations received in cash and kind. The whole exercise shall be carried under the supervision of Tehsildar Ganderbal”.
Kashmir Crown Trust is duly audited for the year 2019-2020 and has submitted all the Returns before the Income Tax department.
Pertinently, it is clarified that the Kashmir Crown newspaper is a separate entity and Kashmir Crown Trust receives free of cost fundraising support from the newspaper & its digital platforms. The newspaper also has digital editions subscribed and followed by more than 2 million people.
