In connection with the militant plot case, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted searches at 16 places in Kashmir and arrested four people.
Waseem Ahmed Sofi r/o Chattabal Srinagar, Tariq Ahmed Dar r/o Shergarhi, Srinagar, Bilal Ahmed Mir alias Bilal Fufu r/o Parimpora Srinagar, and Tariq Ahmed Bafanda r/o Rajauri Kadal, Srinagar were detained yesterday (October 12, 2021), according to an NIA spokesman.
“The case concerns information received about cadres of organisations such as Laskhar-e-Taiba (LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), Hizb-ul-Mujahideen (HM), Al Badr, and similar other outfits and their affiliates such as the Resistance Front (TRF), People Anti-Fascist Forces (PAFF) hatching conspiracies both physically and in cyberspace to carry out violent militancy acts in J& “These organisations’ militant associates/OGWs are conspiring with their handlers and commanders based in a neighbouring country, as well as radicalising local adolescents for the goal of recruiting and training them in the handling of weaponry, ammunition, and explosives,” according to an NIA spokesman. He said that these militants and cadres were responsible for a number of militant activities, including the killing of several innocent people and security officials, “unleashing a reign of terror in the valley of Kashmir,” and thereby undermining the state’s authority. As a result, the NIA recorded the case as RC 29/2021/NIA/DLI) dated 10.10.2021 and began an investigation, according to the spokesman.
“Several electronic devices, incriminating jehadi documents, and records of suspicious financial transactions were seized during the searches conducted yesterday,” the NIA spokesman said, adding that “preliminary investigation has revealed that arrested accused persons are militant associates/OGWs of various militant organisations and have been providing logistical and material support to militants and facilitating them in their nefarious designs.”
