The US does not agree with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s remarks in parliament about India’s foreign policy, according to a State Department official.
Mr Gandhi slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for following a misguided internal and international policy that has resulted in the establishment of “two Indias” while criticising the administration on a number of topics yesterday.
“Ask yourself why you are not able to get a guest on Republic Day. We are completely isolated and surrounded… You have brought Pakistan and China together and this is the single biggest crime you could have committed against the people of India,” Mr Gandhi said.
In response to a query from reporters on ties between Pakistan and China in the light of Mr Gandhi’s remark, US State Department spokesperson Ned Price said he “would not endorse those words.”
“I’ll leave it to the Pakistanis and the People’s Republic of China to discuss their relationship. I would not – would not agree with those sentiments “Mr. Price went on to say that countries don’t have to pick between the US and China.
