Continuing its efforts to control the menace of drugs and illicit liquor, Doda Police arrested two bootleggers with a huge quantity of illicit liquor in the Assar area of Doda district.
Doda Police said in a statement to The Chenab Times that it has continued its drive against illegal liquor sales and the eradication of the drug menace from society, and that many FIRs have been registered in this regard, and that a number of drug peddlers, suppliers, and sales of illegal liquor, including main drug suppliers, have been booked to tighten the noose around smugglers and main suppliers.
Continuing its drive, a police team while conducting check/frisking of vehicles at Model Naka on NHW-244 at Baggar (Assar), intercepted a vehicle (Bolero bearing registration No. JK02CS 7698) driven by one Manjeet Kumar S/o Hans Raj R/o Dranga Bhaderwah, who was accompanied by another person, namely Ganesh Kumar S/o Late Krishan Lal R/o Dhanwa Pooni District Reasi. During the check of the vehicle, 36 bottles of liquor were found carried by them in the said vehicle without valid permission or reason.
In this connection, FIR No. 7/2022 U/48 (a) Excise Act is registered at PS Assar. The accused persons were arrested and an investigation into the case is going on.
The recovery of liquor and the arrest of accused persons were made by the police party under the supervision of Insp Bhovinder Singh, SHO PS Assar, and Shoket Ali, Dy.SP Doda.
