Police arrests Brat Woman in J&K’s Kishtwar after her unsuccessful attempt to move down traffic cop, injuring local journalist

A women in mid 30s was today arrested by the Jammu and Kashmir police in Kishtwar District following her incident with a traffic cops on Saturday wherein she unsuccessfully attempted to move down a traffic on Kishtwar-Padder-Himachal Pradesh Highway.

According to information made available to The Chenab Times, a woman identified as Nishu Kumar, a daughter of Ram Krishan, a resident of Draba Dool, was driving a vehicle recklessly on July 30, 2022, while travelling from the Dool side of Kishtwar to the Hunjala area. When traffic police attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver misbehaved with them, abused the on-duty cop, threatened them with death, and prevented them from carrying out their responsibilities, according to ASI Tara Chand of the traffic police, who somehow managed to save his life when the driver tried to move him down with her vehicle.

Following receipt of the complaint, Kishtwar police registered a case and filed FIR No. 185/2022 U/S 353/504/506 IPC, 184 Motor Vehicle Act.

The brat woman continued to drive recklessly and carelessly on Sunday after the aforementioned Saturday’s incident, and she was stopped by a nakka police party in Zelna where she once again caused a ruckus and verbally abused the officers on duty.

The moment senior police officials learned about the scenario, they immediately rushed to the spot and arrested the woman—but not before she hit and injured a local female journalist as she attempted to flee. After further investigation, it was found that the woman is the same one who attempted to run over the traffic cop’s ASI on Saturday.

This time, the brat women also caused a ruckus and assaulted the female police cops who were on the team that arrived at the spot to detain her.

Senior police officers said, “She was really a threat to the commuters – We have formally detained her and seized her vehicle,” adding that the law will follow its natural course.

The police said, “Law didn’t differentiate between genders—it is equal for everyone, and we followed the due process of law while detaining her.”
