Govt mulls plan to boost rural economy

The Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Departments have jointly prepared an action plan to revitalize the rural economy and persuade more individuals to adopt agriculture and animal husbandry. The move comes in the wake of diminishing interest in these fields, which have historically been major sources of self-employment, particularly in rural areas.

Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Minister Chander Kumar made this announcement on Sunday after hearing public grievances at Jawali in Kangra. Kumar has directed the departments to devise a strategy that motivates people to incorporate modern technology into agriculture and animal husbandry.

As a part of the strategy, the government has also pledged to purchase cow’s milk at Rs 80 per litre and buffalo’s milk at Rs 100 per litre. Kumar believes that this step will encourage more individuals to take up milch cattle rearing, ultimately boosting their income.

Kumar emphasized the government’s focus on public welfare and changing the governance system, ensuring transparent, fair, and accountable administration for all citizens.
