Doda Police Nabs Bootlegger with Huge Haul of Illicit Liquor in Doda Town

In a significant breakthrough against the illicit liquor trade in Doda town, the Doda Police apprehended a notorious bootlegger, Jaffer Iqbal Batt, in possession of a massive quantity of illicit liquor. The arrest came following a well-coordinated operation based on specific intelligence received from reliable sources.

Acting promptly on the received information, a dedicated police team led by Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) Shubam Sharma from Police Station Doda laid a successful trap near Dessa Chowk, Doda. It was there that the police party intercepted Jaffer Iqbal Batt, son of Mohd Iqbal Batt and a resident of Langot Tehsil Bhagwah, District Doda, who was reportedly transporting the illicit liquor from Bhagwah to Doda town.

During the search, the police discovered a substantial quantity of illicit liquor, primarily in the form of whisky bottles, concealed in the possession of the accused. Additionally, the authorities also seized the three-wheeler (Auto) with registration number JK06-8262, which Jaffer Iqbal Batt had allegedly used to carry the illegal consignment.

Following the apprehension of the accused, the Doda Police registered a First Information Report (FIR No.150/2023) under relevant sections of the law at Police Station Doda. The investigation into the matter has since been initiated to unearth the entire network involved in the illicit liquor trade.

Speaking about the operation, a senior police official said, “We are determined to eradicate the illegal manufacturing, distribution, and sale of illicit liquor in Doda. The arrest of this bootlegger is a testament to our unwavering efforts to ensure the well-being of our community and safeguard them from the harmful effects of such activities.”

The Doda Police have been tirelessly working to curb the illegal trade of drugs and illicit liquor and have intensified their efforts in recent times. Their steadfast commitment to upholding the law has resulted in several successful operations against criminal elements in the region.
