Citizen journalism (also known as public journalism, participatory journalism, democratic journalism, guerrilla journalism or street journalism) is based upon public citizens “playing an active role in the process of collecting, reporting, analyzing, and disseminating news and information.” Similarly, citizen journalism can be defined “as an alternative and activist form of news gathering and reporting that functions outside mainstream media institutions, often as a response to shortcomings in the professional journalistic field, that uses similar journalistic practices but is driven by different objectives and ideals and relies on alternative sources of legitimacy than traditional or mainstream journalism”.

The Chenab Times is now providing space for citizen journalist from every corner of Chenab Valley viz Ramban, Doda and Kishtwar district and across the Jammu and Kashmir union territory also. All you have to write a news, collect it’s material and send to us. We will credit your material with your name. If you want to hide name in some cases we will hide that also. The article or news must be based on public issue like roads, water, electricity, transport, health facilities etc.

We are here to listen the hidden voice of every village particularly in Chenab Valley, generally in Jammu and Kashmir union territory. Citizen Journalism will provide you power to raise your voice and express grievances to administration. We don’t accept just in news through this procedure. Just in news includes accident, controversy etc. Chenab Times is trying to highlight the public grievances on our social media platform having one lakh audience collectively. Can citizen journalist get paid for news?

This question may round your head or may not because we describe journalism as social work. But don’t worry, we also reward users certificate if his story became notable to most people. Also, some cash prizes for Articles having more than 10k views.
