Mufti Faiz-ul-Waheed, a prominent Jammu-based Islamic scholar who had been taken to the Acharaya Shri Chander College of Medical Science (ASCOMS) Jammu on a ‘life-supporting system with multiple organ failure’ since his admission to the health institution, passed away on Tuesday morning.

Mufti Faiz-ul-Waheed, who was born in the Dodhasan Bala neighbourhood of Rajouri in 1964, is credited with becoming the first Islamic scholar to translate the Islamic Holy Book Quran into Gojri. ‘Siraj-um-Muneera,’ ‘Ahkam-e-Mayyat,’ and ‘Namaz Kae Masayil Quran-o-Hadees Ki Roshni Mei’ are just a few of the booklets written by the scholar.
The patron of an Islamic seminary, Madrasa Markaz Maarif Ul Quran, near Medina Hill, Bhatindi, Jammu, was a renowned scholar and expert on Fiqh-Islamic Jurisprudence (Sharia Law).

Choudhary Zulfikar Ali expressed sorrow over his demise. His demise, he tweeted, was an irreversible loss. Various other political leaders and social activists expressed grief over his death.
