Two men who alleged that 30 grams of heroin was found in their possession in Poonch district were arrested by the police on Tuesday.
“According to authorities, two suspects were apprehended at around 1130 hours for having 30 grammes of heroin in Nakka in Mendhar within the jurisdiction of police station Kotan.”
Akshay Kumar Sharma, son of Ashwani Kumar Sharma, and Sikander Kumar Sharma, son of Makkhan Lal Sharma, have been identified as the arrestees.
Police Inspector Balakote Shafiq Khan of the Criminal Investigation Department said that the pair were travelling from the city of Barisal to the village of Mendhar in a Maruti Echo vehicle (JK 02BU- 9426). He stated that the SDPO Mendhar Z A Jaffri and SSP Poonch Dr Vinod Kumar gave permission for the police party to handle the operation on behalf of the SDPO and directed the police to arrest both suspects as soon as possible.
