No mercy for militants, their supporters: J&K LG Manoj Sinha

Says there is no place for violence in the land of sufi saints; misguided youth must shun violence, choose better future; Urges Imams, Khateebs to keep watch on children, prevent them from treading wrong path, Praises Tanvir Khan for cracking IES exam

Manoj Sinha, the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, warned on Sunday that “there will be no pity for the militants and their sympathisers in Kashmir,” as his administration is dedicated to ensuring peace and development in Kashmir, the birthplace of sufi saints.

“There is a place for violence and militancy in a region like Kashmir, where there are sufi saints everywhere,” the LG stated during an event in Kund, Kulgam district, in South Kashmir. He stated that extremists and their followers will not be spared.

“There is no room for violence in the country of sufi saints like Syed Simnani (RA), who have shed blood and sweat to promote peace and combat violence. The Union Territory administration is dedicated to promoting the vision of Sufi saints such as Syed Simnani (RA), as well as a culture of peace and progress in the region, according to the LG.

Those who join the path of violence, he continued, will be dealt with harshly. “I urge the Imams and Khateebs to fulfil their roles and keep an eye on children to ensure that they do not go down the wrong path,” he said, adding that while some elements and the neighbouring countries do not want peace in Kashmir, “we are determined to defeating violence.”

The LG stated that youth who have chosen the wrong road must avoid violence and join the tremendous revolution. “Those attempting to deceive youth by inciting them to violence are playing with the sentiments of hundreds of Kashmiris,” he stated.

Tanvir Khan, the son of a rickshaw driver who cracked the Indian Economic Service (IES), was hailed by the LG, who said Tanvir made the people of not only Kulgam but all of J&K proud. “Youth should take his lead and follow in his footsteps, choosing a better future,” he urged.
