Mysterious Murder Cases Solved; Kishtwar Police Arrests Three Accused Persons

Kishtwar Police have solved a second murder case involving Smt. Neetu Devi, wife of Lokesh Kumar, who lives in Horna Tehsil Mughal Maidan District Kishtwar. On the 11th of July, 2021, an inquest was opened at Police Station Chatroo under Section 174 Cr.PC into the suspicious death of one Smt. Neetu Devi. The inquest was started after it was found from the paternal side that the dead lady’s in-laws were performing final rites on her without alerting her parents. Initially, the deceased lady’s in laws stated that she committed suicide by hanging herself, but during the course of the investigation, the inquiry officer discovered some foul play in the matter, and the inquest proceedings were converted into FIR No. 51/2021 under Section 302 IPC at Police Station Chatroo.

SSP Kishtwar Sh. Shafqat Hussain Batt-JKPS formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) under the supervision of Addl. SP Kishtwar due to the sensitivity of the case. Sh. Rajinder Singh-JKPS is led by Sh. Dheeraj Singh Katoch, Dy. SP DAR, supervisory officer of PS Chatroo, and Inspector Sandeep Parihar, SHO Police Station Chatroo. During the course of the investigation and sustained questioning of the suspects, it was established that the deceased lady Smt. Neetu Devi was murdered by her husband namely Lokesh Kumar son of Isher Dass, Gowash Lal (Brother in-law) son of Duni Chand & Devki Devi (mother-in-law) by strangulating her with a duppata & Accordingly, the SIT established the role of Lokesh Kumar (deceased’s husband) son of Isher Dass, Gowash Lal son of Duni Chand resident of Dabran Horna in Tehsil Mughal Maidan District Kishtwar, and Devki Devi (deceased’s mother-in-law) in the mysterious murder by strangulating the deceased lady based on the investigation, witness statements, and other evidence. After performing the horrible act, the accused persons moved the deceased’s body to a neighbouring Committee Hall and hung it on a hook using Dupatta to make it appear as though the deceased had committed suicide.

During the investigation, it was discovered that the deceased lady’s in-laws intended to have Lokesh Kumar’s (husband of the deceased) marriage solemnised somewhere else, for which they planned such a horrific crime. All of the aforesaid suspects were apprehended and are currently being held in the Kishtwar District Jail.
