Following the outburst of protests in Magam and surrounding areas of Central Kashmir’s Budgam district, the Army officer accused of removing and setting fire to a photograph of slain Iranian military commander Qasim Sulumani apologised to the public on behalf of his subordinate and urged them to remain calm.
People in Magam town staged a massive protest after an army officer allegedly set fire to a photograph of slain Iranian military leader Qasim Sulemani.
Locals claim that an Army soldier in Mulbuchan village, less than a kilometre from Magam town, took a photograph of Qasim Sulemani from a house’s wall and burned it down.
The Army officer designated as Commanding Officer 2 RR, Colonel Raman visited the same residence from Magam to Malbuchan village and re-installed the portrait of Qasim Sulemani, according to news agency Kashmir News Trust.
The Army officer was accompanied by Tehsildar Pattan. The officer apologised to the residents of the village and replaced the slain Iranian military commander’s portrait.
