Doda police have so far registered a number of FIRs and notorious drug peddlers have been booked under the NDPS Act in the District as part of a special drive against drug peddlers under Operation Sanjeevani to tighten the noose around drug peddlers.
In a statement issued to The Chenab Times, police said that today on Thursday, it was learnt through their reliable sources that one person, namely Afrim Ahmed, son of Farooq Ahmed, resident of Shamdelian Kahara, residing at present in Malipeth Kishtwar, was carrying Charas with him for selling purposes and was on his way towards Kishtwar from Kahara.
Acting swiftly on this information, a police party of Police Station Gandoh led by Insp. Vikram Singh, SHO P/S Gandoh, assisted by PSI Rohit Sharma, IC PP Kahara, swung into action and apprehended the said individual near Kahara-Jai Bridge who was coming in a vehicle (load carrier) bearing registration No. JK17-3497, being driven by himself. During the search, 01 kg and 120 gms of charas like substance were recovered in the presence of the Executive Magistrate from his possession, which he had concealed in the vehicle behind the driving seat.
In this connection, case FIR No. 27/2022 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Gandoh and the aforesaid vehicle involved in the smuggling has also been seized. The forward and backward links of the accused person are being ascertained during the investigation to unearth the source of the supplier and network of drug peddling.
The recovery and arrest of the accused were made by the police party under the supervision of Shahzada Kabir Matoo, SDPO Gandoh, and overall supervision of Abdul Qayoom, SSP Doda.
