In a bold move to apprehend wanted absconders and criminals, Doda Police has launched a comprehensive crackdown against individuals with heinous charges pending against them. This comes as part of a special drive aimed at ensuring law and order in the district.
Under the directives of the Hon’ble Court, the police have proclaimed sixteen absconders as offenders on various charges of grave nature. Moreover, the property of two of these absconders has been seized following the declaration of their offender status.
Notably, a property spanning 12 Kanals and 18 Marlas, located in Mugal Maidan Kishtwar, and belonging to proclaimed offender Lal Din, has been attached. This action has been taken due to his involvement in a case registered under FIR No. 10/2018 at PS Dessa. In a similar vein, a property of 4 Kanals and 2 ½ Marlas in village Phagsoo Thathri, owned by proclaimed offender Abdul Rashid, has also been attached. Abdul Rashid, who is currently in PAK/POK, has been linked to a case registered under FIR No. 23/1997 at PS Thathri.
Among the most prominent offenders are Mohd Amin, also known as Khubaib, and Mohd Ashraf. These two individuals, who are presently in PAK/POK, have been on the radar of Doda Police since they joined militancy in the early 1990s. Their involvement in various acts of terror, including attacks on civilians and security forces, has raised serious concerns. Despite their continued absence, their influence remains a disturbing factor.
Additionally, other offenders, namely Irshad Bashir, Ram Singh, Parshotan Singh, Parman Singh, Balbir Singh, Rattan Singh, Sajjad Ahmed, Ankush Kumar, Shah Din, Bashir Ahmed, and Ghulam Qadir, have been declared proclaimed offenders by the court, further emphasizing the rigorous stance taken by the Doda Police.
The department’s efforts extend beyond the immediate arrests. Doda Police is also in the process of invoking section 82/83 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) against local terrorists who were involved in past militant activities in the district during times of unrest. These individuals, now based in PAK/POK, are reportedly attempting to recruit local youth through virtual platforms, aiming to rejuvenate militancy in District Doda.
