New Delhi – In a remarkable display of initiative and enthusiasm, a group of students at Jamia Millia Islamia University has launched a “Wiki Club” on 29 October. The creation of this club underscores the commitment to fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and engagement within the university.
The inception of Wiki Club in Jamia is the culmination of the students’ long-standing aspirations to create a platform for knowledge sharing and community engagement. Aaqib Anjum Aafi, who played a pivotal role in bringing this dream to life, expressed his views on this remarkable initiative at LinkedIn, saying, “This is no more a dream but a reality. We have finally formed a ‘Wiki Club’ at our university, the well-known Jamia Millia Islamia, in New Delhi.”
Aafi’s words resonate with the determination and effort that this group of students has invested in turning their vision into reality. He continued, “Having a Wiki Club at Jamia was a longing dream of Chitraparna Sinha [founder of Lekhak.xyz], whose insightful ideas and friendliness helped me bring some life to it.” It is evident that the club’s formation is a result of collective dedication, led by Aafi and supported by fellow students and scholars, including Aishwarya Kumar, Monib Ahmad, Mohammad Athar, Faizan Moquim, Affaf Nasir, Aasif Amin, and Urusa Qamar.
Aafi further emphasized the club’s core mission, stating, “I hope that this club makes a difference at Jamia and engages students in the global free knowledge movement through Wikimedia projects, helping them grow and represent themselves at a global level.” This vision underscores the club’s commitment to promoting knowledge sharing, collaboration, and active participation in global knowledge initiatives.
