Jammu: Woman allegedly plots husband’s murder with lover

The Jammu and Kashmir Police have arrested a woman and her lover for allegedly murdering the woman’s husband and portraying it as a road accident.

The incident took place on April 6, 2024, in the Seora area of Jammu, as per details available with The Chenab Times. The victim, Naresh Chander resident of Bhaderwah, was allegedly murdered by his wife Shallu Devi and her lover Bhanu Partap Singh.

The couple had initially claimed that Naresh Chander died in a road accident near the Revenue Complex in Gole. However, during the investigation, police found inconsistencies in Shallu Devi’s statements.

A thorough investigation, including collecting technical evidence and recording statements of family members, led the police to suspect foul play.

It was revealed that Shallu Devi had an illicit relationship with Bhanu Partap Singh, who was present at the time of the incident.

The police arrested Shallu Devi and her paramour Bhanu Partap Singh. During interrogation, Bhanu Partap Singh confessed to hatching a conspiracy with Shallu Devi to murder Naresh Chander.

The accused allegedly murdered Naresh Chander at an abandoned plot in Seora and then took him to the Gandhi Nagar Hospital, where Bhanu Partap Singh works as an intern.

The case was initially registered under sections 279 (rash driving) and 337 (causing hurt by endangering life or personal safety of others) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

However, after Bhanu Partap Singh’s confession, Section 302 (murder) of the IPC was added to the FIR.

The investigation is ongoing.
