Gurugram: 24-Year-Old Executive Dies in Fatal Collision Between Car and Bus

A 24-year-old executive was killed in a tragic road accident in Gurugram when a city bus collided with his car near Molahera village. The incident occurred under the jurisdiction of the Palam Vihar police station.

Information was available with The Chenab Times that the impact of the collision was severe, resulting in the car being completely crushed and the windshield of the bus being shattered. The driver of the bus reportedly fled the scene, abandoning the vehicle, prompting the registration of a First Information Report (FIR) against him at the Palam Vihar police station.

Police identified the deceased as Sambhav Nigam, a 24-year-old resident of a housing society in Sector 51, Gurugram. He had reportedly gone to visit a friend in Palam Vihar and was en route home when the accident took place on Sunday morning. According to preliminary police accounts, as Nigam approached a CNG pump close to Molahera village, the bus struck his car with significant force. The collision was so violent that Nigam’s vehicle sustained extensive damage, and he was declared dead at the scene. The bus also incurred damage, and it is understood that the driver, along with some passengers, sustained minor injuries.

Upon receiving information about the accident, a police team was dispatched to the location. The body of the deceased was subsequently sent for a post-mortem examination. Initial investigations by law enforcement suggest that excessive speed and driver negligence were the primary contributing factors to the fatal crash.

A senior police officer stated that a case has been registered against the bus driver under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). An investigation has been launched to apprehend the driver. Authorities have requested details of the driver from the Gurugram City Bus Depot, and an arrest is anticipated soon. Following the completion of the post-mortem, the body was handed over to the family of the deceased.

Road safety remains a critical concern in urban areas like Gurugram, with authorities frequently addressing issues of traffic violations, speeding, and vehicle maintenance to prevent such tragic incidents. The Palam Vihar area, like many parts of the city, experiences significant vehicular movement, making adherence to traffic laws paramount for all road users.

The incident highlights the persistent challenges faced in enforcing traffic regulations and ensuring accountability for drivers, particularly in cases involving public transport. The investigation into the incident is ongoing, with efforts focused on tracing the absconding bus driver and understanding the full sequence of events leading to the fatal collision.

Further details regarding the accident and any subsequent actions taken by the authorities are expected to emerge as the investigation progresses. The Gurugram City Bus Depot is cooperating with the police in providing necessary information to aid in the apprehension of the driver. The loss of a young life underscores the devastating consequences of road accidents, often attributed to preventable human error and recklessness on the road.

The accident occurred on a stretch of road known for its traffic volume. The severity of the damage to Nigam’s car suggests a high-speed impact. The immediate aftermath saw emergency services and police arriving promptly to manage the scene and initiate rescue and investigation procedures. The community in Sector 51, where Nigam resided, has been informed of the tragic news.

The registration of an FIR under the new criminal code signifies the legal framework being applied to such incidents. The Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which replaced the Indian Penal Code, contains provisions addressing various offences related to road accidents and negligent driving. The police’s swift action in registering the case and initiating a manhunt for the driver indicates the seriousness with which such fatalities are treated by law enforcement.

The ongoing investigation will likely involve a detailed examination of the accident site, collection of witness statements if any, and analysis of vehicle damage to reconstruct the events. The Gurugram traffic police are expected to provide updates as more information becomes available, emphasizing the need for stringent enforcement of traffic laws and enhanced road safety measures across the city.
