Jackie and Shadow have become internet sensations, with their nest cam drawing a massive audience. The couple, who have been together since 2018, have faced challenges in previous nesting seasons. In 2023, their eggs were reportedly lost to ravens, and in 2024, none of their eggs hatched, possibly due to extreme cold or low oxygen levels, according to bird experts. Bald eagles typically lay one to three eggs per year, with incubation lasting about 35 days. The eaglets hatch about one to four days apart, often giving the oldest a competitive advantage, especially if food is scarce. Once hatched, the young birds remain in the nest for approximately 10 to 14 weeks before they fledge, or take their first flight.
