At least eighteen individuals sustained injuries, four of them critically, when a tempo traveller met with an accident near Crusher Morh on the Darhal-Rajouri road in Rajouri district on Sunday.
Information was available with The Chenab Times that the vehicle, bearing registration number JK02AG-5946, lost control and skidded off the road, eventually plunging into adjacent fields. All passengers on board were reported to be injured.
Following the incident, local residents and authorities initiated a swift rescue operation. All eighteen injured persons were immediately transported to the Government Medical College (GMC) Associated Hospital in Rajouri to receive medical attention. Doctors at the hospital confirmed the admission of eighteen individuals, noting that four are in a critical condition and have been transferred to a specialized ward for advanced care.
The hospital administration placed its emergency department on high alert to manage the influx of patients and ensure prompt treatment for all those affected by the accident. Muzaffar Iqbal Khan, Member of the Legislative Assembly for Thanamandi, visited the hospital and instructed the authorities to provide the best possible medical care to the injured. He confirmed that there were no fatalities resulting from the accident.
Malikzada Sheraz-ul-Haq, Additional District Development Commissioner of Rajouri, stated that hospital doctors are extending all necessary medical assistance. He added that any decision regarding referrals for further treatment would be based on the medical assessment by the doctors.
The injured have been identified as Azishan (23), Abrar Ahmed (30), Mohammad Moreed (34), Shahid Ahmed (32), Shamim Akhter (42), Shamim Bi (24), Isama Kouser (20), Naseem Akhter (9), Mohammad Nazir (65), Toshiba Rehman (18), Mohammad Tazeem (12), Shabir Ahmed (67), Haseena Kouser (35), Muskrat Ali (40), Wahida Fatima (35), Tofeeq Ahmed (20), Umaria (13), and Bassar Hussain (40).
