The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has announced new Bharat Gaurav train packages this summer, offering travelers from Maharashtra more options to explore prominent spiritual and cultural sites across India. These newly introduced routes aim to enhance domestic tourism by connecting major pilgrimage and heritage destinations.
Puri-Kamakhya-Baidyanath Dham Yatra
One of the new itineraries, the ‘Puri-Kamakhya-Baidyanath Dham Yatra’, will commence from Pune on June 25. This 11-night, 12-day tour is designed to take passengers to several significant religious sites. The journey includes visits to the Jagannath Temple in Puri, Odisha; the Kamakhya Temple in Guwahati, Assam; Baidyanath Dham in Jasidih, Jharkhand; the Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh; and the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh.
For the convenience of travelers across Maharashtra, boarding facilities for this train are available at multiple stations along the Pune-Nagpur corridor. These include Lonavala, Karjat, Panvel, Kalyan, Nashik, Manmad, Chalisgaon, Bhusawal, Akola, Badnera, Wardha, and Nagpur.
Divya Dakshin Yatra
The second new offering, the ‘Divya Dakshin Yatra’, will originate from Nagpur. This package is also an 11-night, 12-day journey that focuses on prominent destinations in South India. The itinerary encompasses visits to Hampi in Karnataka, Mysore in Karnataka, Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu, Tiruvannamalai in Tamil Nadu, Vellore in Tamil Nadu, Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh, and the Mallikarjuna Jyotirlinga, one of the twelve revered Shiva temples.
Similar to the first tour, this train will offer boarding and deboarding at various stations across Maharashtra, including Nagpur, Wardha, Badnera, Akola, Bhusawal, Jalgaon, Chalisgaon, Manmad, Nasik, Igatpuri, Kalyan, and Pune. This accessibility ensures that a wider segment of travelers from the state can avail themselves of this pilgrimage opportunity.
Bharat Gaurav Train Features
The Bharat Gaurav trains are part of the ‘Dekho Apna Desh’ and ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ initiatives by the Indian government, aimed at promoting tourism within the country. These trains are designed to showcase India’s rich cultural and historical heritage, offering a unique travel experience. Both the ‘Puri-Kamakhya-Baidyanath Dham Yatra’ and the ‘Divya Dakshin Yatra’ trains will provide three travel classes: Economy Sleeper, Standard 3AC, and Comfort 2AC. Each train has a capacity to accommodate approximately 750 passengers.
The Bharat Gaurav trains are equipped with modern amenities to ensure passenger comfort. These include a pantry car for preparing fresh meals, infotainment systems, and CCTVs for security. The trains also feature individually designed coaches that highlight various aspects of India’s heritage.
The IRCTC provides all-inclusive tour packages for the Bharat Gaurav trains. These packages typically cover train travel, accommodation in hotels, meals, bus travel for local sightseeing, and travel insurance, offering a seamless travel experience for pilgrims and tourists.
The introduction of these new routes from Pune and Nagpur expands the network of Bharat Gaurav trains, providing more opportunities for travelers to explore India’s diverse spiritual landscape. These themed tourist trains have been operating across various circuits in India, connecting historical and religious sites with the aim of promoting domestic tourism and cultural exchange.
