Khanna Police Leads Punjab in Emergency Response Times, Outperforming State Average

Khanna police in Punjab has set a new standard for emergency response across the state, achieving the fastest average response time among 28 police districts and commissionerates. This achievement positions Khanna police at the forefront of the Punjab Police’s Emergency Response System (ERS).

Information was available with The Chenab Times indicating that Khanna police recorded an average response time of just 7 minutes and 31 seconds. This figure significantly outperforms the statewide average of 11 minutes and 22 seconds, demonstrating the district’s efficiency in reaching emergency locations and initiating prompt action.

The latest state-level report on the Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV) project highlights Khanna’s operational success. In May alone, Punjab recorded 1,783 events, with police responding to 1,726 of them. Khanna district specifically handled 43 emergency events, responding to all with a 100% response rate, utilizing 18 four-wheeler ERVs deployed under the project.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dr. Darpan Ahluwalia stated, “I personally monitor the control room, patrolling and field systems round the clock to ensure immediate assistance to the public. Khanna police will continue to do good policing in future also.” The SSP emphasized a commitment to maintaining high standards of public service and safety.

The ERV project utilizes modern technology to enhance response capabilities. Each vehicle is equipped with Mobile Data Terminals (MDT) and smartphone systems, facilitating direct communication from the control room to the field units. This integrated system ensures that police teams are dispatched without delay and can reach emergency spots swiftly.

Across Punjab, a total of 1,152 ERVs are operational, comprising 199 two-wheelers and 953 four-wheelers. Police personnel have undergone training in modern technological applications to maximize the effectiveness of the ERS.

The report provides a comparative analysis of response times in major police commissionerates and districts. Amritsar recorded an average response time of 10 minutes and 31 seconds, Jalandhar 8 minutes and 11 seconds, and Ludhiana 10 minutes and 36 seconds. Larger urban centers such as Patiala (13 minutes 44 seconds), Bathinda (14 minutes 29 seconds), and Rupnagar (15 minutes 44 seconds) also showed longer response times compared to Khanna.

Among the districts listed, Hoshiarpur registered a response time of 8 minutes and 14 seconds, Faridkot 8 minutes and 38 seconds, and Ludhiana Rural 9 minutes and 24 seconds. Fatehgarh Sahib recorded 8 minutes and 50 seconds, Batala 10 minutes and 50 seconds, and Moga 10 minutes and 24 seconds. Kapurthala police district notably had the longest average response time, at 16 minutes and 43 seconds, lagging behind the state average and other districts.

The performance of Khanna police underscores the effectiveness of a well-managed Emergency Response System that leverages technology and dedicated personnel to ensure timely assistance to citizens in distress. The continuous monitoring and operational efficiency are key factors contributing to its top ranking in Punjab.
