Bathinda Court Complex on High Alert Following Bomb Threat Email

Bathinda, Punjab – Panic surged through the District Courts Complex in Bathinda on Tuesday after authorities received an email containing a threat to detonate a bomb within the court premises. The incident prompted an immediate and robust response from the Bathinda police, who swiftly heightened security measures throughout the complex.

Information was available with The Chenab Times that in response to the alarming email, police teams initiated a comprehensive and intensive search operation across the entire court complex. As a precautionary measure to ensure public safety, movement within the complex was significantly restricted during the search. Authorities closed all but two entry and exit gates to manage access and maintain control.

Advocate Gulshandeep Singh Sidhu, vice-president of the District Bar Association, Bathinda, confirmed the swift action taken following the threat. “Immediate action was taken in accordance with security protocols after the threat email was received,” Sidhu stated. He elaborated that various sections of the court complex, including parking areas, offices, and public gathering spaces, were subjected to thorough scrutiny. The strict protocols aimed to ensure that no potential threat remained undetected.

The Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Arun Mundan, provided an update on the situation following the preliminary search. “Nothing suspicious was found during the preliminary search,” Mundan reported. He confirmed that an investigation has been launched with the explicit objective of tracing the individual or group responsible for sending the email. The cyber cell has been actively tasked with the crucial responsibility of identifying the source of the threat and initiating measures to track down the persons accountable for this act.

The incident at the Bathinda court complex underscores a recurring challenge faced by public institutions in maintaining security against threats of this nature. Such emails, often sent anonymously, can cause significant disruption and place a considerable strain on law enforcement resources. The focus now shifts to the ongoing investigation to uncover the perpetrators and deter future occurrences. The authorities are committed to ensuring the safety and security of all individuals within public spaces and are employing all available resources to address such threats effectively.
