SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha declared that individuals involved in narco-terrorism, whether operating from outside the Union Territory or within its borders, will face severe consequences and be brought to justice. His remarks came during a ‘Nasha-Mukt Jammu Kashmir’ rally in Ganderbal district, where he addressed a large gathering.
The Chenab Times has learned that Lieutenant Governor Sinha stated, “Having visited every district in Kashmir valley and accompanying every march (under the anti-drug campaign), I can say that a historic movement against narco-terrorism has emerged.” He emphasized that drug trafficking poses a significant threat to national security and society at large.
“Narco-terrorists, whether those sitting in neighbouring countries or operating from within Jammu and Kashmir, are enemies of our people. They are enemies of our children. They are enemies of progress,” Sinha asserted, promising that narco-terror networks would pay a heavy price. He assured that the administration would ensure exemplary justice for those who have harmed the youth.
The Lieutenant Governor appealed to mothers, sisters, and daughters to act as protectors of their communities and urged the youth of Jammu and Kashmir to safeguard their educational institutions. “I promise that narco-terrorists will no longer find refuge. We will hunt them down. Their days are numbered. Their networks will be dismantled, one by one. This is my oath, every narco-terrorist will answer for their sins,” he stated emphatically.
Highlighting the intensive anti-drug drive, Sinha reported that over the past 55 days, 1,036 First Information Reports (FIRs) have been registered, and 1,128 alleged drug smugglers have been arrested. Additionally, over 100 properties believed to be linked to proceeds from drug trade have been attached. In related actions, nearly 700 driving licenses have been cancelled, and recommendations have been made to revoke passports of 130 alleged drug offenders.
“Fifty-five days ago, I declared that enough is enough. What began as a war against drugs and narco-terrorism has now ignited a people’s movement, a movement born of courage, sustained by spirit, and driven by collective will of citizens. Today, that resolve is stronger than ever,” Sinha remarked. He also pledged comprehensive rehabilitation for individuals struggling with drug addiction, promising support through treatment, counseling, and employment opportunities to help them reintegrate into mainstream society.
The Lieutenant Governor described the ‘Nasha Mukt’ campaign as more than just a government program, characterizing it as a social revolution. He expressed confidence that through collective efforts, drug smugglers and peddlers would no longer find a foothold in Jammu and Kashmir.
