Pune: Several train services operating to and from Pune railway station will face cancellations, short terminations, and rescheduling on Sunday, June 14, due to a nine-hour infrastructure block. The block, scheduled from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, is necessary for essential engineering, signal and telecommunication (S&T), and overhead equipment (OHE) works, including the replacement of a crucial point on the Pune-Daund section.
Major Disruptions Expected on Sunday, June 14
The maintenance work, undertaken by Central Railway’s Pune Division, will impact numerous long-distance and suburban train services. Platforms 3 and 4 at Pune railway station will be unavailable for train movements from the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) end during the block period. This will significantly affect trains arriving from Mumbai.
According to details received by The Chenab Times, nine train services have been fully cancelled for the day. These include the Pune-Talegaon and Talegaon-Pune suburban services, Pune-Nagpur Express, Nagpur-Pune Express, Baramati-Pune DEMU, Pune-Daund DEMU, Satara-Pune DEMU, and the CSMT Mumbai-Pune and Pune-CSMT Mumbai Express services.
Short Terminations and Rescheduled Departures
In addition to full cancellations, several trains will be short-terminated at intermediate stations. Four Lonavala-Pune suburban services and two Talegaon-Pune suburban services will terminate at Shivajinagar instead of Pune. Similarly, the Jaipur-Pune Express and CSMT Mumbai-Pune Express will terminate at Khadki, while the Jammu Tawi-Pune Express and Amravati-Pune Express will terminate at Hadapsar. Numerous Pune-bound suburban services towards Lonavala and Talegaon will commence their journeys from Shivajinagar.
Furthermore, a significant rescheduling will affect the Pune-Rani Kamalapati Express (Train No. 22171). Originally slated to depart Pune at 3:15 pm, the train is now scheduled to leave at 7:55 pm, resulting in a delay of over four hours. Several other long-distance trains originating from Pune will also have their departure times altered, with services like the Pune-Jaipur Express and Pune-CSMT Mumbai Express starting from Khadki, and the Pune-Kolhapur Express commencing from Satara.
Regulation of Trains and Passenger Advisories
Two long-distance trains, the Lokmanya Tilak Terminus Mumbai–SMVT Bengaluru Express and the Gwalior–Daund Express, are scheduled for en-route regulation, with an approximate detention of 30 minutes each in the Lonavala-Pune section. The extensive disruptions are part of crucial infrastructure upgrades aimed at enhancing operational safety and long-term efficiency within the Pune yard.
Railway authorities have strongly advised passengers to verify the latest running status and schedule of their trains before embarking on their journey. This can be done through the National Train Enquiry System (NTES) or the official Indian Railways enquiry portal. Passengers are urged to check these resources to avoid inconvenience caused by the altered train operations throughout Sunday, June 14.
