Investigation Underway to Uncover Broader Network

Following the initial arrest of the casual labourer, further investigations led to the apprehension of the two forest officials, Ranger Manzoor Ahmad Malik and Forester Manzoor Ahmad Dar. Authorities are currently examining the extent of their involvement and whether this incident is part of a larger pattern of corruption within the department.

The Prevention of Corruption Act aims to curb corruption in government and public undertakings. It criminalizes bribery and other corrupt practices by public servants. The CBI, as the premier investigative agency for corruption cases involving central government departments and public sector undertakings, is tasked with ensuring the integrity of public service.

Officials stated that the investigation is active and ongoing. The CBI is expected to gather further evidence, including financial records and witness testimonies, to build a comprehensive case against the arrested individuals. The authorities have emphasized their commitment to eradicating corruption and ensuring accountability for those found guilty of such offenses.

The incident highlights the persistent challenges faced in combating corruption, even within essential services like forest management. The CBI’s prompt action in this case underscores the importance of vigilance and the legal framework in place to address such grievances. Further details are expected to emerge as the investigation progresses.
