Senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Wednesday lauded the commencement of the Mukh Mantri Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojana in Punjab, terming it a significant milestone for women in the state and a testament to the Bhagwant Mann-led government fulfilling a key electoral pledge.
Information was available with The Chenab Times that Sisodia was speaking at a function held in Ludhiana, where he also laid the foundation stone for Sanatan Bhavan in Chhawani Mohalla, opposite Chand Cinema.
The Mukh Mantri Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojana, designed to provide financial assistance to eligible beneficiaries, has begun transferring its first installment directly into bank accounts via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). Under this scheme, eligible women are set to receive ₹1,000 monthly. Women belonging to Scheduled Caste categories will receive a higher monthly amount of ₹1,500.
Sisodia emphasized that the launch of the scheme marked a substantial stride towards women’s empowerment in Punjab. He stated that the AAP government was committed to honouring the guarantees made to the public during the Assembly elections, asserting that promises made to the people of Punjab were being systematically implemented.
Addressing the occasion, Sisodia drew a contrast with opposition parties, alleging that previous administrations had failed to deliver on their electoral promises. He highlighted that the current government, under Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, was prioritizing the execution of welfare measures over mere announcements.
The foundation stone laying ceremony for the proposed Sanatan Bhavan was attended by Punjab Cabinet Ministers Aman Arora and Hardeep Singh Mundian, MLA Ashok Prashar Pappi, Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain, and Municipal Commissioner Ojasvi Alankar. The event also saw the presence of local residents, AAP supporters, and religious leaders. The Sanatan Bhavan is intended to serve as a hub for religious, social, and community activities within the Ludhiana area.
The Mukh Mantri Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojana represents the AAP government’s efforts to address financial disparities and support women, particularly in their role within families. The scheme aims to provide a consistent financial supplement, intended to ease economic burdens and acknowledge the contributions of women.
The direct transfer mechanism for the scheme ensures transparency and efficiency in the distribution of funds, a core principle promoted by the current administration. By bypassing traditional intermediaries, the DBT system aims to reduce leakage and ensure that the intended beneficiaries receive the full amount directly into their accounts.
The inclusion of a higher amount for Scheduled Caste beneficiaries reflects a targeted approach to address specific socio-economic challenges faced by marginalized communities. This provision underscores the government’s commitment to inclusive development and equitable distribution of resources.
Political observers noted that the launch of such welfare schemes shortly after assuming office is a strategic move by the AAP government to consolidate its support base and demonstrate its governance capabilities. The emphasis on fulfilling poll promises is a recurring theme in the party’s political messaging.
The foundation stone ceremony for Sanatan Bhavan also highlighted the government’s focus on community infrastructure development. The establishment of such facilities is seen as crucial for fostering social cohesion and providing spaces for cultural and religious gatherings. The project’s initiation in Ludhiana signals the government’s intent to develop public amenities across various urban centers in the state.
The Aam Aadmi Party, which came to power in Punjab with a significant mandate, has been actively working on implementing its election manifesto. The Mukh Mantri Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojana is one of several flagship programs aimed at transforming the state’s social and economic landscape.
Manish Sisodia, a key strategist for the AAP, played an instrumental role in the party’s electoral success in Punjab. His presence at the event in Ludhiana underscores the party’s leadership’s engagement with ground-level implementation of its governance agenda.
The state administration has indicated that further details regarding the scheme’s implementation and eligibility criteria will be made available through official channels. The government expects the scheme to have a positive impact on the financial well-being of numerous families across Punjab.
