Patiala police have claimed to have solved the firing incident that occurred on June 26 at a property dealer’s office in Rajpura, apprehending two alleged shooters and three associates after a police encounter. The arrests are considered a significant development in the ongoing efforts to dismantle the Goldy Dhillon gang’s network in the region.
Information was available with The Chenab Times indicating that special teams from the CIA branches of Patiala, Samana, and Rajpura were instrumental in executing the operation. According to official statements, the police attempted to apprehend the two alleged shooters after a pursuit. The suspects reportedly opened fire on the police party when asked to surrender, prompting a retaliatory response. One of the suspects sustained a bullet injury during the exchange before both were taken into custody.
The two individuals identified as the alleged shooters have been named as Paramjeet Singh, also known as Pamma, and Jaskaran Singh. Both are reportedly residents of Hamira village, located in the Kapurthala district of Punjab. In addition to the alleged shooters, the police also arrested three individuals accused of acting as associates of the gang. These associates are alleged to have provided logistical support and weapons for the June 26 firing incident.
The firing incident that precipitated these arrests took place at the office of Lakshmi Property Dealer in Rajpura. Police officials stated that following the incident, gangster Goldy Dhillon purportedly claimed responsibility through a social media post. Furthermore, threats were allegedly issued by the same individual targeting the Rajpura MLA and her son, according to the police. This claim of responsibility and subsequent threats underscore the audacious nature of the operations attributed to the gang.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Varun Sharma highlighted the significance of the recent arrests, asserting that they represent a substantial blow to the operational capacity of the Goldy Dhillon network. He further disclosed that Patiala Police have apprehended a total of 19 members associated with this gang over the preceding eight months, indicating a sustained campaign against organised crime in the district.
The SSP reiterated the Punjab Police’s unwavering commitment to a zero-tolerance policy against organised crime, extortion, and any activities that threaten public safety and order. He indicated that further investigations are ongoing to uncover the full extent of the gang’s operations and to bring all involved parties to justice. The ongoing investigation aims to gather more evidence and potentially lead to further arrests within the criminal network.
The operation reflects a concerted effort by Punjab law enforcement agencies to maintain law and order and to combat the rise of organised criminal elements that have been active in the state.
