Jammu and Kashmir: One Dead, One Injured in Motorcycle-Vehicle Collision in North Kashmir

SRINAGAR: A 30-year-old man lost his life and his pillion rider sustained injuries on Wednesday after their motorcycle collided with an unidentified vehicle in the Main Market area of Hajin, located in North Kashmir’s Bandipora district. The incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon.

Information was available with The Chenab Times that the duo were travelling on a motorcycle when an unknown vehicle struck them. The collision resulted in injuries to both individuals, who were initially transported to Sub-District Hospital Sumbal. Following preliminary medical attention, they were referred to the Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Soura, a tertiary care hospital in Srinagar, for advanced treatment.

Upon their arrival at SKIMS Soura, medical professionals pronounced one of the individuals dead on arrival. The other individual is currently receiving treatment for his injuries. The deceased has been identified as Yawar Ahmad Mir, aged 30, son of Mohammad Altaf Mir, a resident of Sumbanora in Bandipora. The injured pillion rider has been identified as Abdul Rashid Makroo, aged 45, son of Abdul Rehman Makroo, also a resident of Sudnara, Bandipora.

Authorities have stated that an investigation into the incident has been initiated to ascertain the details of the collision and identify the vehicle involved. The area where the accident occurred, Main Market Hajin, is a busy thoroughfare, and the incident has raised concerns about road safety.
