Srinagar, Aug 30: In a significant move to curb drug-related illicit activities, the Jammu and Kashmir Police in Shopian district have attached a residential property valued at over ₹16.77 lakh. The property is alleged to have been acquired through proceeds from the narcotics trade.
The Chenab Times has learned that the attached house belongs to Hilal Ahmad Dar, son of Ghulam Ahmad Dar, a resident of Vehil village in Shopian. This action is a part of the ongoing intensified efforts by law enforcement agencies to dismantle networks involved in drug trafficking and seize assets derived from illegal operations.
Officials stated that the property was identified as being directly linked to earnings from the illegal trade of drugs and narcotics. The attachment has been carried out in connection with FIR No. 80/2024, registered at Police Station Shopian. This legal measure aims to disrupt the financial infrastructure supporting drug syndicates.
The attachment proceedings were conducted with strict adherence to legal protocols. A police team, along with an Executive Magistrate, Lambardar (village headman), and Chowkidar (watchman), were present to ensure transparency and compliance with all procedural requirements. This signifies a systematic approach to tackling the menace of drugs.
Police authorities in the region have reiterated their unwavering commitment to eradicating the scourge of narcotics. Their strategy involves not only apprehending individuals involved in drug offenses but also targeting the financial gains accumulated through these illicit activities.
