Chandrashekhar Sharma, the principal of the polytechnic college, stated that an internal investigation into the incident is currently in progress. He emphasized that it would be premature to arrive at any definitive conclusions regarding the circumstances surrounding the fall.

In a preliminary statement to the police, Sarvesh Kumar reportedly indicated that he was seated on the railing of the third floor and fell while attempting to reposition himself. He conveyed to the authorities that he was uncertain about the precise manner in which the fall transpired.

Balbir Thakur, the Superintendent of Police in Hamirpur, confirmed that the police have registered a case concerning the incident. An investigation has been initiated to thoroughly ascertain the sequence of events and the factors that led to the student’s fall. The police are working to gather all relevant information to understand the circumstances.

Sarvesh Kumar had recently garnered considerable attention for his innovative work in developing a drone for the Indian Army at a remarkably low cost of approximately Rs 87,000. This achievement reportedly paved the way for him to secure a subsequent project valued at over Rs 3.5 crore. His academic and technical pursuits were further recognized as he was slated to join the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)-Roorkee. His engagement with IIT-Roorkee was intended for the continued development of a sophisticated drone designed with the capability to evade radar detection, highlighting his significant contributions to indigenous defence technology development.
