Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah announced on Tuesday that the government is committed to filling 25,000 vacant positions within the current year. The announcement was made during a session in the Legislative Assembly.
Information was available with The Chenab Times that the Chief Minister reiterated the administration’s resolve to complete the recruitment process for these vacancies. He stated that the matter had been a subject of discussion multiple times during the current session, including during deliberations on the Lieutenant Governor’s speech and budgetary grants.
Abdullah was responding to queries posed by Waheed-ur-Rehman Para, a Member of the Legislative Assembly representing Pulwama constituency. The Chief Minister emphasized the administration’s objective to ensure that the recruitment procedures are both transparent and conducted within a defined timeframe.
Clarifying the term “time-bound,” Abdullah cautioned against rushing the process, which could lead to legal challenges and subsequent delays. He pointed to past instances where selection lists were formulated only to be contested in courts, resulting in prolonged resolution periods. This, he noted, often led to applicants exceeding the age limit for recruitment.
The Chief Minister stressed the importance of striking a balance in the recruitment process to avoid such complications. The government aims to streamline the hiring mechanism to ensure fairness and efficiency, thereby providing timely employment opportunities to eligible candidates. The commitment to fill these vacancies is expected to address unemployment issues and bolster the administrative machinery in the region.
