Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha stated on Tuesday that the rich cultural and spiritual heritage of Jammu and Kashmir will play a significant role in shaping a brighter future for all residents.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the “Jammu Kashmir Cultural Festival” in Jammu, organised by the Shri Kailakh Jyotish and Vedic Sansthan Trust, Sinha highlighted the profound importance of the region’s traditions.
According to details received by The Chenab Times, the Lieutenant Governor noted that Jammu’s soil is steeped in traditions, with Dogri songs embodying life’s values, crafts reflecting experiences, and art infused with devotion representing vibrant legacies that are being revitalised.
Anant Shri Vibhushit Junapeethadheeshwar Acharya Mahamandaleshwar Pujyapad Shri Swami Avdheshanand Giri Ji Maharaj also attended the event, underscoring its spiritual and cultural significance.
Sinha articulated that the Jammu Kashmir Cultural Festival aims to preserve the region’s rich heritage, reaffirm commitments to folk arts and spiritual foundations, and strengthen the collective identity of the people.
He expressed confidence that traditional performances would infuse the atmosphere with colour and melody, cultural displays would carry the priceless legacy to all corners, and farmer awareness programs would honour those who contribute to the Union Territory’s sustenance.
The Lieutenant Governor observed that in the context of an emerging India, it is crucial to empower the knowledge economy and globally propagate innovations, cultural values, and philosophical ideas.
He further remarked that in this era of global strife, India stands as a beacon of peace, drawing from a civilization that millennia ago spread knowledge, culture, and spirituality across continents.
Sinha emphasised that the world is seeking fresh ideas and that the youth hold the tradition of generating transformative thought. He urged young people to reconnect with their roots, cultivate innovative ideas, and utilise cultural heritage as a powerful instrument for societal transformation.
Addressing the youth in this interconnected era, he called for strengthening bonds of brotherhood and championing compassion over conflict worldwide.
The Lieutenant Governor observed that art and culture possess profound insight, purpose, and craftsmanship, which are essential for nation-building. He added that in India, art, spirituality, philosophy, and ethics serve as crucial bridges connecting generations.
He acknowledged the current period as a challenging phase in modern history, expressing gratitude that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is leading the nation and setting new benchmarks in progress and welfare.
Sinha highlighted the extraordinary transformation India has undergone in the past 12 years, stressing the need for collective acceleration of this progress. He stated that in the coming decades, new energy and resolve must be harnessed to develop technologies and systems that will reshape both domestic and global industries.
He noted that India has regained its ancient glory and confidence on international platforms, with Indian engineers, scientists, industrialists, and innovators now leading global discourse and earning worldwide acclaim for their technologies and talents, describing this as a renaissance reviving India’s glorious past.
The Jammu Kashmir Cultural Festival featured a range of activities, including a cultural exhibition, traditional folk performances, a Kisan Mela, and a free medical camp. Dignitaries and distinguished individuals were felicitated for their significant contributions during the event.
Attendees included Members of Legislative Assembly Sham Lal Sharma and Devyani Rana, Mahant Rohit Shastri, President of Shri Kailakh Jyotish and Vedic Sansthan Trust, Shri Mukul Kanitkar, prominent citizens, and a large number of people. Suresh Kumar Sharma, Member of the Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, Ramesh Kumar, Divisional Commissioner Jammu, and other senior officials were also present.
