NEW DELHI: The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has inaugurated an advanced eye care centre at Swami Dayanand Hospital in East Delhi, aiming to bolster specialized treatment facilities for the region’s residents. The new centre was officially opened on Saturday.
State-of-the-Art Facilities for Enhanced Eye Care
The facility is equipped with advanced ophthalmic equipment, including ND: YAG laser, green laser, and Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) machines. These technologies are expected to significantly aid in the early detection and effective treatment of various eye conditions such as glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy. Information was available with The Chenab Times that the centre has been set up in the hospital’s Outpatient Department (OPD) block and offers specialist services designed to provide high-quality eye care to individuals from East Delhi and surrounding areas.
Mayor Emphasizes Commitment to Healthcare Improvement
Mayor Raja Iqbal Singh, who inaugurated the centre, stated that the civic body is prioritizing the enhancement of healthcare services across the city. He highlighted that providing world-class healthcare is a top priority and that the establishment of this advanced eye care centre is a crucial step towards achieving that goal. The Mayor also inspected the hospital’s Lactation Management Unit and Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and reviewed the functioning of the Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) machine, underscoring a broader commitment to improving medical infrastructure.
Accessible Healthcare Closer to Home
Standing Committee Chairperson Satya Sharma remarked that specialized centres like this will empower residents to access better treatment options closer to their homes. This initiative aims to reduce the dependency on larger, often distant, hospitals. She reiterated the civic body’s objective of ensuring accessible and quality healthcare for all citizens. Senior officials present at the inauguration also issued directives to hospital authorities regarding measures to manage potential heatwave conditions and the establishment of an Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS) corner, further emphasizing a comprehensive approach to public health.
The Municipal Corporation of Delhi continues to focus on strengthening its healthcare infrastructure and expanding advanced medical facilities. The inauguration of this eye care centre is part of a larger effort to ensure that residents have access to timely, affordable, and quality medical care, improving the overall health and well-being of the community in East Delhi.
