A 21-year-old food delivery agent from Bihar was fatally shot in Delhi following an alleged altercation that escalated due to casteist remarks, his family has claimed. The incident occurred in the Jaffarpur Kalan village of southwest Delhi on Sunday, April 26, 2026, around 2:30 AM.
Pandav Kumar, the deceased, was with his friend Krishan after attending a birthday celebration when they were reportedly confronted by an individual identified as Neeraj. According to the victim’s family, Neeraj, who they allege is a Delhi Police head constable, opened fire at point-blank range after an argument. The bullet pierced through Pandav Kumar’s body and also injured Krishan. Police have not officially confirmed Neeraj’s designation, with sources suggesting he is posted with the Delhi Police Special Cell.
According to statements from the victim’s mother, Meena Devi, the altercation intensified when Neeraj learned that they were from Bihar. “The moment he got to know that we are from Bihar, he opened fire and fled,” Meena Devi told reporters, expressing her demand for justice for her son.
Krishan, who sustained injuries from the bullet that passed through Pandav Kumar, is currently receiving medical treatment. Preliminary police inquiries indicate that Pandav Kumar and Krishan were attending a birthday party for a two-year-old child at a friend’s residence. After the party, they were engaged in conversation on the road when the confrontation with the accused allegedly took place.
The family of the deceased has alleged that the shooting was unprovoked and that the accused was under the influence of alcohol. They claim that Neeraj objected to the victims standing on the road and inquired about their caste before resorting to firing. Pandav Kumar was described as the sole earning member of his family, working diligently as a food delivery agent to support them.
Following the incident, family members and local residents gathered at the Jaffarpur Kalan police station, demanding the immediate arrest of the accused and strict legal action. Police have registered a case against Neeraj, who is reportedly absconding, and are actively conducting efforts to apprehend him. Further investigation is underway to ascertain the complete sequence of events leading to the shooting.
